Michigan Churches of the United Brethren In Christ

August 26, 2006

In keeping with the vision and direction of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, USA, Michigan Annual Conference of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, USA held its last business session on July 17, 2006 at Eden UBC, Mason, MI. It empowered the Conference Council and its officers to conclude any necessary business and authorized the corporation to dissolve effective October 16, 2006. This aids the United Brethren Church in the USA in its vision to "flatten" the organizational structure and become more innovated and flexible through the use of a single National conference and small groups designed to equip ministerial staff through coaching.

The new UBC structure encourages equipping clusters, churches, pastors, lay people, etc. to innovate and to create ministry networks as needed. The churches in the state of Michigan (from the former annual conferences of Michindoh and Michigan) have decided to create a Michigan network designed to respond to corporate ministry opportunities. The new network is a network of United Brethren church and parachurch organizations incorporated in the state of Michigan and under the authority of the Discipline of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, USA. Its official name is "Michigan Churches of the United Brethren in Christ". Lane-Dulcenia Memorial Home, Michigan Insurance Group, Carson City Christian Camping Center and Retirement Center, and Camp Living Water are among the ministry resources and opportunities available through this new network.
